Charles “Chuck” Grier has been President and CEO of UCI since 1991.
Charles “Chuck” Grier has been President and CEO of UCI since 1991. After graduating from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Science, he began his career as a field engineer. Chuck then worked his way to project manager with a separate company before taking a position as general manager at Utility Contractors of Oklahoma, Inc. He also graduated as a Commissioned Officer in the USAR-COE and spent eight years as a reserve combat engineer officer. Chuck is also a past president of state chapters of the Associated General Contractors of America (in Kansas and Oklahoma). Within AGC of America, Chuck has served on several committees and is a Lifetime National Director. In 2013, Chuck co-authored a paper titled, “Construction Kata: Adapting Toyota Kata to a Lean Construction Project Production System.” Over the years, Chuck has been very involved in the Wichita community, having served as president of the Executive Board of the Quivira Council- Boy Scouts of America and on a number of other Boards, including The Wichita Chamber of Commerce, Heartspring, Goodwill Industries along with several other chapters of local business affiliated organizations. Jeff Grier earned a Bachelor degree from Kansas State University and began working at UCI in 2003.
Jeff Grier has a Bachelor Degree from Kansas State University and began working at UCI in 2003, moving into the role of Executive Vice President of Operations Support and in 2015 was named President of the company. Jeff’s focus is transforming UCI into a great sales and marketing organization to enhance the company’s position in the marketplace. Jeff leads UCI's day-to-day operations and is also strategically involved in such areas as business plan development; safety; customer relations; and developing new and more efficient operating procedures, policies, goal & objectives to enhance the company's position in the marketplace. Jeff is a member of the Kansas State University Construction and Management Advisory Council and serves on the Board of Directors for the Kansas Associated General Contractors Association. He is also a committee member of Kansas Salutes the Troops and an Executive Board Member of Boy Scouts of America - Quivira Council. Jeff Barley has an A.S. in Civil Engineering Technology from Kansas Technical Institute (now Kansas State University Polytechnic) and began his career at UCI in 1986.
Jeff Barley has an A.S. in Civil Engineering Technology from Kansas Technical Institute (now Kansas State University Polytechnic) and began his career at UCI in 1986. Jeff has held a variety of positions at UCI, including field engineer, estimator, estimating manager, project manager and operations officer. Now Senior Vice President, Jeff is involved in overseeing operational capability, performance, efficiency and profitability in addition to ensuring UCI’s Predictable Performance® is met on all job sites. Jeff was also nominated, participated in and is a member of the 2015 class of Leadership Wichita. While away from work, Jeff has been involved in various community organizations, such as Wichita Downtown Lions Club, Maize High School Booster Club and Pathway Church. David Odell earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Oklahoma State University and has been with UCI since 1983.
David Odell earned a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Oklahoma State University and has been with UCI since 1983. David has worked as a Company Procurement Manager since 1993 and is currently our Vice President of Project Development. He is responsible for oversight of all treatment plants and industrial projects. David works closely with clients, moving them from project concept to working budgets; therefore, he coordinates and solicits subcontractors, communicates and evaluates project specifications with engineering firms and manages estimates to meet deadlines. He is active in many of UCI’s Design-Build pursuits, showing leadership in developing projects and more preliminary programs to commissioning the work. David holds the Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) designation of practicing profession and uses this to move alternate project delivery methods to our clients. In his spare time, David volunteers in Boy Scouts, coaches softball, enjoys gardening, canoeing and camping as well as spending time with his grandchild.READ MORE >
Walter Marcotte is the Vice President of Legacy Markets and began his career at UCI in 1985.
Walter Marcotte is the Vice President of Legacy Markets and began his career at UCI in 1985. He earned an A.S. in Civil Engineering Technology from Kansas Technical Institute (now KSU Salina) and has served in a variety of roles at UCI, including field engineer, superintendent, estimator, project manager and senior project leader. As Vice President of Legacy Markets, he is responsible for the oversight of the estimating capabilities of UCI as they primarily focus on water/wastewater plants, industrial and special projects for both public municipalities and private companies. Walter works with owners, clients, engineers, suppliers and subcontractors to prepare estimates, contracts and negotiate revisions. He also works closely with the project management team to ensure projects are kept on schedule and within budget. Walter is a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the Water Environment Federation and the Design Build Institute of America. Charlie Moon is the Business Development Director at UCI. With 37 years of experience in business development, he has honed his skills as a highly effective communicator. Charlie is adept at building and maintaining relationships and has worked collaboratively to create wins among multiple entities with different objectives. He is also a relationship manager with the ability to manage multiple tasks. Charlie has reinvested in the community as a Rotarian and as a board member of Catholic Charities. He is also a member of the National Auctioneers Associations, has earned the designation of “Benefit Auctioneer Specialist” and provides auctioneer services to approximately 30 charities per year.READ MORE >
Eric Estep has a Master of Science in Industrial Organizational Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Kansas State University.
Eric Estep has a Master of Science in Industrial Organizational Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Kansas State University. He started at UCI in 2009 and currently serves as our Vice-President of Field Operations. He plans, directs and coordinates workforce activities of UCI to maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain functions such as employee compensation, recruitment, personnel policies and regulatory compliance. Eric continues to create a skilled, certified workforce that enhances the quality of employee recruitment, performance and retention. He constantly promotes leadership and professional development of all employees. In addition, Eric is responsible for organizing and running the UCI safety department. In his spare time, he is involved with the Global Orphan Project and Charity Water. He enjoys staying active, including participating in multiple half marathons, cycling and kickboxing.READ MORE >
Louise Gerwick, our Chief Financial Officer, began working at UCI in 1998.
Louise Gerwick, our Chief Financial Officer, began working at UCI in 1998. She earned a Bachelor degree in Business Administration from Wichita State University and has been in the construction industry since 1992. Louise has met the stringent requirements to be a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP). She is a longtime member of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) and Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA). Louise determines and formulates strategies and policies and provides the overall direction of the company within the guidelines. She plans, directs and coordinates financial and administrative functions at the highest level of management to achieve the company’s vision and mission. Outside of work, Louise is active with the Derby High School booster club and is an avid WSU Shocker Men’s Basketball fan. Louise and her husband, Loren, have two children.
